Welcome Adress of the Minister President of the State of Brandenburg

Dear participants of HUMAV 2010,
Dear guests of the ILA,
Welcome to the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan area. Every two years our region is the focus of attention for aerospace experts and professional visitors from all over the world, as the ILA Air Show opens its doors and invites you to take a closer look at the latest developments in aviation. Again and again this provides a formidable opportunity to gain information, share experience and get to know each other, and also it initiate cooperation projects and to close business deals. The numbers of firms present at the ILA is constantly increasing, highlighting the importance of this traditional trade fair for the aerospace industry.
The foundations of economic growth are innovative thinking and hard work as well as a solid basic infrastructure. For many years the government of the state of Brandenburg has been supporting the local aerospace cluster to safeguard and to encourage Berlin-Brandenburg as a prime location for aviation. In this context special attention is paid to quality education of worldwide renown. Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau and other universities in our state perform an excellent job in this field. Firms in our region also take their role and responsibility in vocational training very seriously. University alumni and young technicians in Brandenburg really know their business and are much in demand as employees.
The ILA Air Show is not only a showcase for new aircraft, engines and equipment, but also a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience. Creativity and inventiveness matched with innovation and diligence are the ingredients and the driving forces for success, progress and growth. Human resource management therefore carries a great responsibility - which is why performance measurement and motivation will be the main topics for your expert conference this year. During the ILA conference program you - the experts from academia and business - will discuss future challenges and innovative solutions for the aviation sector. I wish you every success, many new insights and enjoyable stay in our region. I hope you will have a good time here and come back soon.
