This conference is a singular event bringing together managers and academics in the field of human resource management and development in the aviation sector. To build and keep a high performance workforce is a special challenge for airlines, airports, manufacturers and service providers. Where else would we find an extremely cyclical service industry with an exclusive demand of highly qualified and licensed employees?

HUMAV is organized by the Wildau Insitute of Technology (WIT), which is associated with the Wildau University of Applied Sciences, and Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT). WIT specializes in the education of managers for the aviation sector on a postgraduate level; LTT is the world’s leading provider of basic, advanced and management training for experts and management staff working in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and the broader aerospace industry. It is a fully owned subsidiary in the Lufthansa Group of companies.

Topics of presentations and discussions in the plenum and a series of workshop sessions will be:

solving bottleneck problems in the workforce (engineers, pilots etc.) models for flexible work hour rules integrating and managing part-time workers innovative approaches to training promotion of aviation related studies

labour issues and strike prevention adapting working conditions to an ageing workforce performance related pay schemes other subjects related to HR problems in aviation

A "Best Thesis Award" will be presented to the author of an outstanding academic diploma or master thesis discussing the relevant issues.
